2011 April Adoptions

Elizabeth - adopted 4/29/2011
This family of labbies came as a total of nine from Nebraska where they really came from the pitts.  They were born to a momma Golden Retriever and their pappa is supposedly a black lab.  They were on a farm with no love or attention and lived outside all the time.  They seriously stunk and were just a mess when they got to us.  The farmer said he was sick of all the dogs and was going to dump the puppies at the pound where they would only have 48 hours to get adopted.  MHLRM volunteers stepped in and made sure they were safe!

Eagle - adopted 4/28/2011

Drake aka "Gibson" - adopted 4/22/2011
Drake was hit by a car and left for dead on the side of a high way by Wharton, TX outside Houston.  A very generous person picked him up and took him to a vet where he was held and given medical care after some very great people donated to fix his him and fracture to his leg.  One of their employees even fostered him until his appropriate vet care was completed and he could come to Colorado.  This boy is truly great and it would have been a huge loss to let him die on the side of the road.  We are so happy there were so many people to help us save him and get him to Colorado.

He is now residing at The Divine Canine of Louisville until he finds his forever family - thank you!!!

Lance - adopted 4/17/2011
Lance is the 6th of 8 pups of a litter we committed to in mid-2010.  They were evidence in a hoarding case and were born to a senior black lab momma.

Thank you to Camp Bow Wow of Broomfield for taking care of the L boys!

Bethany - adopted 4/12/2011
Bethany is coming to us via a shelter in Elk City, OK where a group advocated for her and let us know about her as she got dumped in an EXTREMELY rural shelter more than 50 miles from Elk City where she has ZERO change of being adopted and was almost euthanized as there are literally zero adopters out there...

Thank you to the Divine Canine of Louisville for giving this sweetie a soft place to land!

Derby - adopted 4/11/2011
Derby was dumped in the shelter in Houston, TX after he lost almost all his fur!  He had Sarcoptic Mange and nobody unfortunately will even consider a dog with a very treatable condition at that pound.  Derby was labeled for death...  A very generous foster pulled Derby and got him the appropriate treatment to fix his mange and take care of him before he could come to Colorado.  He now has a very fluffy beautiful yellow fur and is thriving.  His fur will continue to get thicker as time goes but he is thriving now!
